Great Location Great Staff

This hotel had a very friendly staff willing to book reservations at restaurants almost every night. The location was great. No need to take a taxi from Rome Termini Train station (which has tons of airport direct trains). A bus depot is there as well, striaght shot to the Vatican on the 64 Bus. You are also within walking distance of the Coloseo and Palantino as well as blocks away from St. Maria Magigore. Downsides were that the rooms, while big, need some updating, and while rather roomy they were Spartan. Another downside was that while the breakfast staff was tremendous, the food was not so great, cold eggs and bacon, not much selection. Overall, we'd stay here again at this price.

This hotel is very well located - an easy walk from the main train station, main bus station as well as a subway entrance. We were also able to walk to several historical sites. The room was adequate and the breakfast buffet was good. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful in making arrangements. They obviously wanted to be sure we enjoyed our stay in Italy.

Good hotel

A very short block from the train station, this was an ideal location. The hop-on buses left from the area in front of the station. My room wasn't ready when I arrived, but they checked my bag and I left. Breakfast was typical--good scrambled eggs, undercooked bacon--neither were as hot as one would like. Only a very small disk of soap was provided; l bring my own shampoo etc. anyway. Nice museum was a block away and everything else was accessable via the hop-ons. I was a single female.

This is a very nice hotel. The complimentary buffet breakfast was the best we had in Italy. Wonderful coffee. We had dinner at the rooftop restaurant one night, a little pricey, but FANTASTIC! The lobby is very nice. Breakfast room is lovely. The location is the best. A 5 minute walk from the train station. So easy to get around from there. I recommend it if you are looking for a hotel near the train station.

What a beautiful hotel!
My husband, daughter and son-in-law, and myself stayed only one night at this wonderful hotel, regretably. We'd just returned from a 12 night cruise and needed a little TLC before the long flight back to New Jersey. This was the perfect location - it's less than 2 blocks from the train station and it is virtually surrounded by restaurants. The staff was extremely helpful, pleasant, and polite and the rooms were large, comfortable and quiet. Although we found the air conditioning was not cool enough and you were restricted as to how low you could adjust it, it was acceptable. The mattress was extremely hard and somewhat uncomfortable. When you layed on it, it barely made a dent. The roof top restaurant was beautiful and the food was amazing - they offer a chocolate hazelnut cake that I would make the trip back just to have another bite. Also, the service at the restaurant reminded me of old-time service, they were very well dressed, knowledgable of the menu, polite and friendly. The price of dinner for 4 with appetizers, entrees, dessert and coffee was approximately * (USD) - comparable to a high end New York City restaurant. Although it was a little pricey, the food and service were well worth it. The concensus with our family is we would definitely return to this jewel of a hotel.

Great Experience and Great Location
more...
Located a short walk from Termini Station, it worked out great from the Airport. We took the train to Termini and took the 5 minute walk to the Hotel. I had called the hotel a week before our trip to ask if they could have flowers placed in the room for our arrival (honeymoon). They were happy to accomodate and it went off without a hitch.
This hotel is in a great location with many good restaurants close by. We took cabs sometimes... the hotel is happy to call them for you and the cabs always showed up within 5 minutes (many less). Cab fare to vatican 10 euros, cab fare to Piazza Navona 5 euros. Walk to coliseum less than 15 minutes. Walk to Trevi fountain about 20 minutes.
The hotel was great and I'm happy we chose it. Breakfast was great too. According to others we met on our trip, you can do much much worse than this hotel.

No complains as far as accomodation is concern. The hotel is very elegant except for the room, it is outdated. But I did not mind them because of exhaustion. The roof top is a plus. Excellent location a block away from Termini station. Overall, its an A. I would recommend this to my family.

The Bettoja Mediterraneo is just a block away from the Termini Station making it very accessible to the Metro, Trains and tour buses reducing significantly transportation cost within Rome (taxis are expensive and rates are unpredictable). The most of the staff spoke English and Spanish and were very friendly and willing to give directions and advise on where and how to go to the attractions. The rooftop bar its excellent and has a great view of Rome at night and a nice place to unwind after a full day of walking. The only thing was that the bed are too firm but I know its a matter of taste an opinion.
I recommend this hotel to anyone vacationing in Rome specially if you are on a budget.

Perfect Fit
more...
We wanted a location by Termini to rmake day trips to Florence, Naples, Pompei, etc. This hotel was the perfect fit because it met that criteria and the room, breakfast and staff were excellent. Wherever you stay in Rome you will need to travel to see all of the sites. Being located on the eastern end of town we had the advantage of having the sun behind us as we journeyed out to the sites in the morning and at dusk when we journeyed back. We have a lot of great photographs. With all of the tourists in the area we felt and were safe. I plan to stay at this hotel on my next visit to Rome.

I read a lot of good reviews about this hotel, but wasn't too impressed. The proximity to the ancient ruins is acceptable, but if you want to get closer to the nightlive, you might want to get closer to the river.

The hotel is located 1 block from the central train station in Rome which is convenient for air or train travellers. The subway is the same distance and there are good buslines converging on the location The continental breakfast was very good and the rooms were excellent. Staff was very professional helpful. Decor of the building was from the 1930s. Rooftop bar was a nice place to have a cool cocktail after a day of exploring and watching the sunset. I highly recommend this facility.

58-yo grandmother takes 15-yo granddaughter to Italy. Fantastic adventure and historical fantasy. We tried to see all local sights and the Vatican. Even with my broken foot, we were able to manage the streets, transit system, and find many wonderful restaurants to please us both. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a central location for sights, not for glamour shopping.

Modern clean hotel with 2 elevators, fantastic full breakfast buffet, helpful multi-lingual staff, one block from Termini train/subway/bus station. Excellent restaurants within a block, don't miss the Trambus 110 just across in Termini for a quick overview tour. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Review of Bettoja Hotel Mediterraneo

This hotel was in a great location for walking to some of the greate sites in Rome. Also, it was extremely close to the train station and the metro line. The breakfast was great, and it was nice to have a restaurant inside the hotel, which we used when we didn't feel like finding another one in the rain. I also highly recommend taking advantage of the tour offer of the Vatican Museums (even though it's expensive) because it got us to the front of the extremely long lines there."

What do you need in a hotel? A clean bed, nice bathroom, nice service and if included, a good breakfast. If any of these fail, then the stay is not perfect. And this hotel almost makes it, but the breakfast is so poor, specially the service, that the rest of the good things you almost forget them. So if you don't care about this, or you are will to pay and have breakfast outside, then this might be the perfect spot.Very good price, location, cleaness and front desk service.

Hotel is 2 mins away from Termini Station, very quiet/safe. One can walkto major sites, get all day metro/bus pass to Vatican etc. Hotel has Old World Charm with elements of Art Deco decor... good breakfast & helpful staff but not very friendly. Bathrooms very good, great water pressure, crisp white sheets/ well keptanbut rooms that need to be re-done. Telephone in room super expensive, 3 locals 19euros!!!

The room was small and clean, but could use an upgrade with modern furniture. The only drawback was that we were not able to iron clothes in the room. Otherwise, staff were nice (except a few) and spoke english. The hotel was convenient (within a few miles) to most tourist attractions and to the train station. We took a trip to Florence by train for around 58 euro a person. The rooftop restaurant was an awesome ""chill"" spot after a day of sight seeing. Breakfast was great! It was one of my most enjoyable vacations.
